Can you share your background and what inspired your transition from public relations to sales? What do you find most fascinating about this field?
I began my career in public relations and diplomacy, where I gained deep insights into relationship management and strategic communication. Transitioning into sales allowed me to apply these skills to create value-driven partnerships and drive commercial success. My journey into sales began in China in 2008 where I had the unique opportunity to immerse myself in a completely new culture and business environment. My background in diplomacy gave me a strong foundation in communication, relationship-building, and strategic messaging. However, it was during my time in China that I learned the true power of cross-cultural communication.
Sales, for me, became a natural extension of this skill set. The most fascinating aspect of the business is how it blends strategy, negotiation, and relationship management across diverse cultural landscapes. Navigating global markets, understanding different customer behaviors, and adapting solutions to meet varied needs keeps the work dynamic and rewarding. My experience in China and later in other countries, has helped me understand the nuances of cultural differences, enabling me to build more meaningful, impactful partnerships that drive growth for both our customers and the company.
What attracted you to the packaging industry?
The packaging industry is dynamic and ever-evolving. Its intersection with sustainability, innovation, and global trade makes it particularly exciting. I was particularly drawn to the opportunity to develop solutions that not only impact industries worldwide but also contribute to a more sustainable future.
How has your role evolved at FPS? What new skills have you developed? How have you grown professionally and personally?
My journey at FPS has been a testament to adaptability, growth, and seizing opportunities. I was initially hired to manage FPS’s business in China, where I focused on strengthening partnerships and driving regional growth. From there, I transitioned to the role of APAC Commercial Director, overseeing a diverse and dynamic region, navigating multiple markets, and driving success across Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and beyond.
As my expertise grew, I took on the position of Global Key Account Director and relocated to the Netherlands. In this role, I led global strategic initiatives, worked closely with multinational customers, and established a robust framework for key account management. Most recently, I’ve taken on the Commercial Growth on top of global key account management and moved back to Turkey, where my career initially began. This role brings everything full circle as I work on scaling FPS’s global reach and mentoring the next generation of talent. Each step in this journey has been both challenging and rewarding, equipping me with a well-rounded perspective and a global outlook.

What has been your highlight during your FPS journey?
One of the standout highlights of my journey at FPS has been the opportunity to embrace new challenges and relocate to various regions, each offering unique learning experiences and growth opportunities. The highlight has not only been the success we’ve achieved in driving the company forward, but also the personal journey of growth and adaptation that each relocation and role transition has brought me. This global perspective has helped me shape more effective strategies and foster stronger relationships with customers worldwide.
What challenges did you face within your role at FPS, and how did you overcome them?
The flexible packaging market is highly competitive, with constant pressure to innovate, meet customer demands, and adapt to rapidly changing market dynamics. As the global leader in this industry, we face the challenge of not only maintaining our position but continuously raising the bar to deliver value-added solutions. One of the key challenges was transforming the sales mindset from a reactive approach to a proactive, hunter-driven model. This required a cultural shift within the organization, the implementation of new frameworks, and building a cohesive global key account system. By fostering collaboration, providing the right tools, and emphasizing the importance of strategic account planning, we successfully aligned the organization towards achieving significant growth. Additionally, ensuring a seamless supply chain to meet global customers’ demands while navigating disruptions was another major challenge. We overcame this by adopting a hands-on approach, maintaining close communication with operations, and leveraging our team’s expertise to adapt quickly and efficiently. Despite these challenges, FPS has not only sustained its leadership but has also set new benchmarks in the industry, showcasing our resilience, innovation, and ability to thrive in a competitive landscape.
What does team success at FPS mean to you? Does innovation and leadership play a major role within this?
Team success at FPS is about more than just hitting targets; it’s about cultivating an environment where collaboration, mutual respect, and continuous learning drive results. To me, it’s about each individual contributing their unique strengths, working towards common goals, and supporting each other through challenges. Success is not just measured by the business outcomes, but by how well the team comes together to solve problems, innovate, and elevate each other. What are your hobbies?
I have a passion for learning languages, which has been fueled by my experiences living in different countries like China, the Netherlands, Turkey, and now spending a lot of time in Chile. Each language offers a unique lens into a culture, and it’s incredibly rewarding to connect with people in their native tongue. Beyond that, I enjoy traveling and exploring diverse cuisines, which ties into my love for immersing myself in new cultures. I also value quality time with my family and enjoy reading books on leadership, strategy, and personal growth. These hobbies not only enrich my personal life but also inspire me in my professional journey.
