Watersafe in Ghana: A Partnership for Clean Water with a Local Church

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water due to geographic challenges, inadequate infrastructure, and disasters. In places like Ghana, unsafe water spreads diseases, disrupts education, and limits opportunities for families, often leading to waterborne illnesses, child mortality, and physical strain. That’s why FPS developed WaterSafe—to tackle water insecurity globally.

The Partnership with a Local Church

In one of our latest initiatives Andreas Grewe, FPS General Manager of Central Europe, partnered with a local church community that had strong ties with Ghana.

During a visit from the Ghanaian church team to FPS Germany, the Watersafe project was introduced, sparking immediate interest. “They were amazed by the simplicity and impact of the Watersafe backpack,” later the German church presented the project to others, including a regional bishop, resulting in donations for over 7,000 Watersafe backpacks.

This collaboration highlights the power of faith communities to drive change. Churches, with their strong networks, played a vital role in expanding the project’s reach, ensuring thousands of children and families now have access to clean water.

Impact of Watersafe in Ghana

The success of Watersafe in Ghana demonstrates how partnerships and community-driven efforts can create lasting impact. Every Watersafe backpack delivered represents hope, health, and a brighter future for the people of Ghana.
